Dr. Lila Kanta Nath is a distinguished academic leader, pharmaceutical scientist, and former Vice-Chancellor with over four decades of experience in higher education, research, and institutional leadership. With deep expertise in pharmaceutics, novel drug delivery systems, and formulation development, he brings exceptional scientific insight and strategic perspective to intellectual property and innovation-driven legal practice.
Dr. Nath earned his B.Pharm and M.Pharm from Dr. H.S. Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, and completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. His academic career has been primarily associated with Dibrugarh University, where he served as Lecturer, Reader, Professor, and subsequently as Vice-Chancellor. He also served as Founder Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences during its establishment and later as Dean of the School of Science & Engineering. In addition, he held the position of Principal at Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, Sikkim. Following his tenure as Vice-Chancellor, he served as Professor and Dean at the School of Pharmacy, Royal Global University, Guwahati, and is currently serving as Professor and Dean at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Nath has supervised 20 Ph.D. scholars and completed 12 funded research projects, generating over ₹2 crores in research revenue. His scholarly contributions include over 100 research publications, multiple review articles, books, and patented innovations. His work has achieved significant academic impact, reflected in a strong citation record and research indices.
Dr. Nath has been an active contributor to national regulatory and academic bodies, serving on expert committees of AICTE and the Pharmacy Council of India for several decades, and also continues to contribute to higher education governance as a nominated member of university governing bodies in Assam.
